1. Prepare the containerTo grow tulips in water, you must first prepare a container. Since it is a bulbous plant, the bulb cannot be completely immersed in water, so the container must be thin in the middle and thick at both ends, so that the bulb can be stuck in the middle and the roots can reach down to absorb water. It can usually be made from a mineral water bottle. Cut off the upper part and put it upside down in the bottle, so that the bulbs can be held. 2. Disinfection of bulbsIn order to ensure the healthy growth of tulips, they must be disinfected before growing in water. Peel off the outer skin of its root bulb and soak it in chlorothalonil or potassium permanganate solution. The concentration of the solution should be strictly controlled. Generally, 600 times of chlorothalonil should be used, and the potassium permanganate solution should be diluted to pink. Take it out after soaking for 20 seconds, no need to soak it for too long. 3. Water culturePlace the tulip bulbs on the container and observe and record the position of their bulb disks. Pour clean water to ensure that the water level is consistent with the height of the bulb disk. If the water level is not high enough, the bulbs will not be able to absorb water. If the water level is too high, the bulbs will be soaked and cause them to rot. 4. Temperature control rootingIn order to promote the rooting of tulips, the temperature and humidity must be controlled before water cultivation. Place the bulbs in an environment of 5℃ to root. Generally, the roots will grow after 7-10 days. After that, you can maintain it normally, with the temperature between 15-18℃. At the same time, ensure sufficient light to prevent it from growing too tall. 5. Change water regularlyAfter the plant has taken root, you need to adjust the water level in time so that two-thirds of the roots are soaked in water, and the rest are exposed to the air to help the plant breathe. Change the water every 3-5 days and regularly add nutrient solution rich in phosphorus and potassium, which can also promote its flowering. |
