Can Kalanchoe survive in winter? Pictures of cutting method

1. Can it survive in winter?

The temperature when cutting Kalanchoe should be around 15℃-20℃. If the climate is suitable for cuttings in winter, they can survive. But if the climate is very cold, it basically won't survive. The suitable time for cuttings is spring and autumn, which can be done in May-June or around September-October. When the temperature is too high or too cold, it is difficult for cuttings to survive.

2. Cutting method

1. Cuttings: Before cuttings, you must first select the cuttings. You can use leaf cuttings or branch cuttings. From the mother plant in good growth condition, select a cutting about 5-6cm long. The leaves should also be strong, and it is best to cut them off from the petiole.

2. Disinfection: Disinfect the cut surface of the cuttings. Do not plant them directly. Let them dry before planting. The substrate used for cuttings must also be prepared. The flower soil should be loose and slightly acidic. Such soil will be more conducive to its growth. After the substrate is prepared, it must be sterilized, otherwise there will be bacteria in it.

3. Cuttings: After preparing the branches or leaves, cut them into the soil. The cuttings should be 1/3 of the depth in the soil. They will grow roots in about 10 days and can be transplanted in about a month. If you are using leaf cuttings, you should insert them obliquely into the substrate, or place them flat on the substrate, and pay attention to moisturizing. After 10-15 days of maintenance, new roots will grow.
