Scale insects are a common agricultural pest. They often gather on the branches, leaves, and fruits of plants, mainly sucking plant sap. In severe cases, they can cause branches to wilt or the entire plant to die. So how to prevent and control scale insects? Learn how to use the following special insecticides . 1. Methidathion Methiophanate-methyl is an ideal pesticide for killing scale insects. It is not systemic, safe and highly effective. It can also treat whiteflies and aphids, and kill all scale insects and caterpillars instantly. The disadvantage is that it has a strong smell. Usage: For example, to control scale insects, leafhoppers, stink bugs, blind bugs, whiteflies and leaf rollers on deciduous trees such as apples , spray 1000-1200 times diluted 40% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate on the tree crown for prevention and control. 2. Pyriproxyfen Pyriproxyfen is the nemesis of scale insects. The drug has high activity against scale insects and if used scientifically, its effectiveness lasts for more than two months. Usage: In the actual process of preventing and controlling scale insects, it is recommended to use 1000-1500 times of 100g/L pyriproxyfen emulsifiable concentrate, combined with acetamiprid spray. The insects will be completely killed 10 to 15 days after application. 3. Spirotetramat Spirotetramat is another effective ingredient for treating scale insects, but its cost is relatively high. Its main function in controlling scale insects is its strong systemic insecticidal effect, which can be transmitted bidirectionally in the plant body, but it also has a relatively slow insecticidal speed. Usage: When using spirotetramat, it is generally recommended to use 1500-2000 times diluted spray of 22.4% spirotetramat suspension. In order to improve the rapid effect, it is recommended to use it with acetamiprid, high-efficiency chlorfenapyr, etc. 4. Buprofezin Currently, thiamethoxam is recommended for the control of scale insects in the market and is more cost-effective. Buprofezin is a new type of selective insecticide that inhibits the synthesis of insect chitin and interferes with metabolism. It has strong contact and stomach poison effects, and has the characteristics of strong selectivity for pests, high insecticidal activity, long lasting effect, low toxicity, and low dosage. Usage: Spray with 800~1200 times diluted 25% thiamethoxam suspension (wettable powder) or 1200-1500 times diluted 37% thiamethoxam suspension. 5. Chlorpyrifos Chlorpyrifos has stomach poison, contact killing and strong fumigation effects on pests, and can be used to control various forms of scale insects Usage: During the low-instar nymph stage of scale insects, use 1500 times diluted 52.25% chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate to spray evenly on the entire plant. In general, there are many special drugs for scale insects, but due to long-term use, scale insects gradually develop drug resistance. Therefore, in actual use, it is best to use it in combination with other medicines for better results.
