Can sunflowers be hydroponically cultivated? Can sunflowers be propagated by cuttings?

1. Can it be hydroponically grown?

Not only can it be grown hydroponically, but its ornamental value is also higher when grown hydroponically. However, if you want better survival, you should pay attention to the hydroponic methods and management.

For hydroponics, prepare a transparent container and add an appropriate amount of pure water into it. The branches should be cut thick and free from diseases, pests and insects. Then insert it into the container, being careful not to put it too deep into the water. It usually takes 10 days to take root. Pay attention to the temperature during maintenance and maintain it between 15-28 degrees. It needs to be exposed to more sunlight at ordinary times, and nutrient solution should be added during the peak growing season so that it can bloom normally.

2. Can it be propagated by cuttings?

Of course, sunflowers can be propagated by cuttings, which is also one of the commonly used propagation methods. When taking cuttings, you must pay attention to the time, method and post-cutting management to ensure survival and that the plants bloom as scheduled.

The time period is between May and August. The temperature and humidity are very suitable during this period, which can help the roots take root faster. When cutting, choose the top of the tender stem as the cutting. It does not need to be too long, about five centimeters will be enough. You also need to prepare loose and well-permeable soil. Do not insert branches directly as this may cause damage. You can use a small wooden stick or chopsticks to poke a small hole in the soil surface, then put the cuttings in, two centimeters into the soil. After planting, compact the soil, water it thoroughly and keep it moist, and spray water frequently. This way, it will take only about half a month to take root and survive.
