How to propagate Jade Fan

How to propagate Jade Fan

The division propagation of Jade Fan

In spring, it is usually combined with repotting. The young plants growing next to the mother plant are removed and dried for about a week. After the wounds are completely dry, they can be planted. After planting, spray some water appropriately.

Leaf cutting propagation of Jade fan

During the growth period of the jade fan, you can cut the semi-lignified and sturdy fleshy leaves at the base, dry them in the sun for two or three days, and then insert them into a substrate made of sand or a mixture of perlite and vermiculite, keeping it slightly moist. At a temperature of around 20℃-25℃, it will take root in about 3-4 weeks.

Root cutting propagation of Jade fan

In autumn, you can combine it with repotting. After breaking off the strong roots from the base, bury it in the soil, leaving about one centimeter above the soil surface. The top will then sprout and grow into a new plant. Alternatively, you can choose a vigorous jade fan plant with a developed root system, pull it up slightly from the soil, cut off the rhizome 1 centimeter below, then turn it over to dry, and then plant it after the wound is dry. The remaining roots will remain in the soil and will also sprout.

Seed propagation of Jade fan

The seeds are sown as they are harvested. After sowing, they can be covered with glass or film to retain moisture. Seedlings will generally emerge in about 7 to 10 days.
