How to prevent the roots of water-grown spider plants from rotting, and how to keep them alive when planted in water

How to prevent the roots of water-grown spider plants from rotting, and how to keep them alive when planted in water

1. How to prevent root rot

1. Change water frequently: Change water frequently during water cultivation to ensure water quality. Under normal circumstances, the water should be changed once every half a month. This way the water is cleaner and contains more oxygen, which can ensure the normal growth of the plants and prevent root rot. If the water is not changed for a long time, the lack of oxygen will hinder the root breathing and the roots will easily rot.

2. Appropriate amount of fertilizer: Fertilization is naturally needed during water cultivation. If you need to apply nitrogen fertilizer, you can put a few grains of urea in the water to meet the demand. But be careful not to overdo it, otherwise it will easily burn the roots and cause root rot. Just put a few grains in each time you change the water, it’s better to put less rather than more.

2. What to do after root rot

No matter what the cause of the root rot, it must be dealt with as soon as possible after discovery to avoid infection. The plant should be removed, the rotten parts should be trimmed off, and then disinfected. Wait until the roots are dry before placing them in a container to continue growing.

3. How to insert live

It is very easy to grow spider plants in water. First of all, you need to choose small plants with aerial roots, so that they can take root and survive. After cutting, soak the plants in rooting solution for about 20 minutes. After soaking, dry the roots and set aside. You also need to prepare a transparent container and fill it with an appropriate amount of water, but be careful not to fill it too full. After preparation, insert the small plant and make sure the bottom is wet. In the early stage, you need to change the water every two or three days, and roots will grow soon. In the later stage, the frequency of water changes should be reduced to avoid root damage.
