There are 5 ways to propagate green radish by cuttings. If you learn one, you will have more space at home!

Green radish hydroponics

If you want to increase the survival rate of green radish cuttings, Huahua thinks the best way is hydroponics.

1. Prepare the necessary materials. A pot of green radish, a pair of scissors and a hydroponic bottle.

2. Cut a cutting from the mother plant of the green radish. It is best if the branches have aerial roots, which will greatly increase the survival rate.

3. Cut the cut branches of the green radish short, about 7-10cm for each branch. It is best to cut the incision at 45° to help increase the water absorption area.

4. Place the trimmed green radish branches in a hydroponic bottle, then add water to cover 1/3-1/2 of the lower end of the branches. In order to ensure that the green ivy can take root quickly, flower lovers can also crush a tablet of aspirin, mix it with water in a ratio of 1:1000 to make a solution, and drop a few drops into the hydroponic bottle.

5. Before the green radish grows roots, change the water once every 2-3 days. Clean the inner wall of the hydroponic bottle while changing the water, and do not add nutrient solution. After the roots of the green ivy grow out, you only need to change the water every 5-7 days. The temperature is high in summer, so it is best not to add nutrient solution, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.

How to propagate the branches of Pothos sinensis

In addition to hydroponics, the most commonly used method is soil culture.

1. Prepare materials: a pot of green radish, a pair of scissors, a flower pot, nutrient soil

2. Use scissors to cut a semi-lignified branch from the green radish, about 10 cm in length, and cut the lower end at a 45° angle.

3. Remove all the leaves at the bottom of the cut green radish branches to facilitate grafting.

4. If you want to increase the survival rate of cuttings, you can also insert the lower end of the green radish branches into rooting water for 1-2 minutes before cutting, then dry them, and then cut them into the soil. The depth of the cuttings is about 1/2 of the branch, then water it thoroughly and place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

5. After cuttings, you must pay attention to maintaining a high air humidity. Spray water on the leaves and around the flowerpot more often. It will take about 15-20 days for the green radish to take root. Then place it in a place with sufficient scattered light for maintenance.

The method of cutting and grafting of Pothos

A flower lover told Huahua that she didn’t have so many green ivy branches at home to use for cuttings, so what should she do? Why not take a look at the following method!

1. Prepare materials: 1 semi-lignified green radish branch, 1 flower pot, nutrient soil for cuttings, 1 pair of scissors

2. Use scissors to cut off all the leaves on the branches of the green radish, and then cut them short. The length of each cutting should be about 2-4cm. At the same time, make sure that a node is retained on each cutting.

3. Insert the shortened branches into the prepared soil, with 1/2-2/3 of the branches inserted into the soil. The nutrient soil for cuttings can be perlite, vermiculite, coconut coir, etc.

4. After inserting all the green radish cuttings into the soil, place them in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance, and never expose them to direct sunlight.

5. The potting soil for cuttings of green radish must be kept slightly moist. There must not be any stagnant water, otherwise the green radish cuttings will rot. After a period of time, small buds will emerge from the green radish cuttings, and soon they will fill the pot!

Spreading cuttings of green radish

After cutting the branches short, we can also lay the green radish cuttings directly in the flowerpot, and the survival rate is very simple!

1. After cutting the green radish cuttings short, spread them flat on the potting soil and then water them thoroughly.

2. If the temperature at home is higher than 30℃, do not cover it with a plastic bag. If the temperature is lower than 30℃, or there is air conditioning in the room, cover the entire green radish pot with a plastic bag and place it in a place with sufficient scattered light.

3. Make sure to open the film for ventilation every day. If you find that the soil in the pot is dry, water it in time. It won’t be long before we find new sprouts growing on the green ivy in the flowerpot.

4. After you discover that the green radish has grown new shoots, spread a layer of coconut bran on the surface of the potting soil, and then add some urea, compound fertilizer, etc. and dilute them with water. This will make the green radish grow more and more vigorously!

Sponge cutting method of Pothos

The last method of propagating green radish that Huahua wants to introduce is to use a sponge for propagation. This method is also very easy to operate. Flower lovers can try it at home!

1. Prepare materials: 1 pot of green radish, 1 pair of scissors and 1 sponge.

2. Select a strong branch from the mother plant, which should contain at least one node.

3. Use scissors to poke a few small holes on the sponge block, then insert the green radish branches into the small holes of the sponge block, the depth is about 2-4cm, then place the sponge block in water to allow the sponge to fully absorb water.

4. Make sure the sponge is always slightly moist. If you find that the sponge is dry, water it immediately. Then place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. In about 1 month, you will see the cuttings of green radish taking root!
