In traditional Chinese culture, people believe in the meaning of "flowers bring wealth" and "bamboo brings peace". Therefore, many flower lovers like to place a pot of bamboo at home to express their good wishes for peace and happiness. Among indoor potted plants, asparagus fern , water bamboo and lucky bamboo are the three most popular types of bamboo. So how do you grow water bamboo so that it grows well? 1. Maintain water quality and use aspirin rationally When hydroponically growing bamboo, keeping the water clean is essential to maintaining the bright green color of its leaves. After the water bamboo has taken root or has taken root, make sure its roots are healthy so that it can absorb water and nutrients normally and promote its healthy growth. In order to maintain the water quality, in addition to changing the water regularly (once every 1 to 3 days), you should also leave space at the bottle mouth to maintain air circulation. Additionally, add a crushed aspirin tablet to the water once a month to disinfect and protect the roots. 2. Lighting management Water bamboo has a strong adaptability to light and can grow in sufficient light or semi-shade environment. However, too much light can cause the leaves to turn yellow, while a lack of light for a long time can cause the leaves to fade in color. Therefore, water bamboo should be placed in a bright diffuse light environment to avoid strong direct sunlight at noon to keep the leaves green and vibrant. 3. Use ferrous sulfate solution to adjust pH and supplement iron When hydroponically cultivating water bamboo, due to the limited nutrients in the water, the yellowing of leaves may be due to the lack of iron or the obstruction of chlorophyll synthesis caused by the alkalinity of the soil. Regular replenishment of ferrous sulfate solution can help maintain the bright green color of the leaves. The frequency of use should not be too high, about once every 1 to 2 months. Although some gardeners use iron nails, improper handling may lead to bacterial infection, so ferrous sulfate solution is a safer choice. 4. Temperature management Water bamboo has strong adaptability to the environment and is very easy to grow. However, water bamboo is not cold-resistant and requires a warm and comfortable environment. The suitable temperature for growth is between 15 and 25℃, and the temperature in winter cannot be lower than 5℃. It can be grown in sufficient sunlight or partial shade on a daily basis. Sufficient sunlight can promote photosynthesis and make it grow more luxuriantly. Full sunlight is available in spring and autumn. It needs shade in the summer, and placing it in a ventilated and scattered light place can keep the leaves green and age. In conclusion, water bamboo can be grown either in soil or hydroponically, or even by combining the two methods. However, in pursuit of beauty and ease of management, households usually prefer hydroponics for maintenance.
