When is millet ready for harvest?

Millet, also known as millet, is one of the oldest cultivated crops. Millet is the king of grains and the only alkaline food among grains. Many people like to cook porridge with millet. It is rich in nutrients and can strengthen the spleen and stomach. There are many millet producing areas in China.

Millet mature

If millet is planted in different areas and sowing times, its maturity time will be different. There are differences between the south and the north. Millet in the south matures in early September, while in the north, such as Shanxi's yellow millet, it matures in early October every year.

Millet harvest

The harvesting time of millet varies depending on the place where it is planted. In the northern region, it can be sown in spring and summer. In spring, it can be sown after the frost stops and harvested in mid-to-late April. In summer, it can be sown before mid-June and harvested before October. The temperature in the south is higher and the growth cycle is shorter, so it can mature and be harvested around September.

Millet Origin and Output

The main producing areas of millet are Shanxi, Gansu, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei and other regions in China. The more famous ones are Weixian millet, Qinzhou millet, Longshan millet, Jinxiang millet, Yan'an millet and Chifeng millet. The millet yield per mu is generally 300-400 kilograms, and the rice yield rate is 70%-75%.
