What is the best soil for potted peony and how to prepare the soil

1. What kind of soil is good?

It likes loose, deep, well-drained and fertile soil. When planting in potted plants, you should pay attention to the selection and preparation of soil. Only suitable soil can ensure normal growth and flowering. Also, pay attention to the pH of the soil. It prefers neutral or slightly alkaline soil and does not like acidic soil. The pH value must be controlled at all times, otherwise it will easily grow poorly and hinder flowering.

2. Soil preparation method

1. When preparing soil for peonies, you can mix six parts of garden soil, three parts of leaf mold, and one part of rice husk ash. This will ensure looseness and good drainage, and will not easily accumulate water.

2. You can also use four parts of leaf mold and garden soil, mix them with an appropriate amount of coarse sand to improve drainage. After mixing, add a small amount of rice husk ash, which can also meet its needs.

3. In addition to the above two methods, you can also mix garden soil, manure and coarse sand in a ratio of 1:1:1, so that the plants can grow vigorously in the later stage.

3. Notes

In addition to the soil preparation method, attention should also be paid to soil disinfection. Before planting in pots, the soil should be exposed to strong light. The high temperature environment can kill insect eggs and eliminate pathogens. If the weather does not permit, disinfectant can also be used. The most commonly used solution is potassium permanganate, which is diluted and sprayed on the soil. It can be used safely after drying.
