What to do if you overwater tomatoes? Symptoms of overwatering

1. How to deal with excessive watering

Although it likes a humid environment, it should not be overwatered. If the plant cannot absorb all the water, it will affect its normal growth and should be dealt with as soon as possible. If it is planted in a pot, move it to a ventilated place and increase the light to make the water evaporate as quickly as possible. If planted in the ground, drainage is required. Loosen the soil more often and ventilate the plant more often so that the moisture will evaporate faster and reduce damage to it. If the water accumulation is serious, it is recommended to add new soil to help absorb water.

2. Symptoms of Overwatering

Too much watering will hinder the normal breathing of the roots and cannot provide the plants with the nutrients they need. Lack of water for a long time will cause the leaves to turn yellow and wither, the entire plant will wilt, and the roots will slowly rot. In severe cases, the entire plant will die and naturally will not bloom or bear fruit.

3. Correct watering method

The specific number of times or frequency of watering it depends on the growth stage, and the amount of water required at different stages is also different. If it is a newly established seedling, you need to water it thoroughly as soon as possible, and water it again if you find that the soil surface becomes dry later. The transpiration of the leaves is low before flowering, so the frequency and amount of watering should be reduced. Generally, it is enough to water once every ten days, and the water should be small. During the fruiting period, the amount of water required increases. At this time, you need to water more often, generally once a week, watering thoroughly each time, and continue until harvest.
