How to repot a newly bought azalea? When is the best month to do so?

1. How to change the pot

1. Choose a pot: When repotting azalea, choose a pot of appropriate size. Usually the diameter of the pot does not need to exceed half of the corolla. The flowerpot needs to be breathable, otherwise it will affect the breathing of its roots. It is better to use a clay pot.

2. Soil selection: The soil should be suitable for plant growth. It likes to grow in loose and acidic soil. After preparing the soil, disinfect it with potassium permanganate or expose it to the sun.

3. Potting: First put some broken tiles at the bottom of the pot, and then cover it with coarse sand and soil. Then put the azalea plant in, use nutrient soil to fill the gaps around the roots, and press it down gently. Finally, water the soil thoroughly and place it in a semi-shaded environment. After about a week to half a month, you can maintain it normally.

2. Precautions

When you first buy azalea, don't rush to change its pot. Because the plant needs to adapt to the new environment, it will grow poorly in a short period of time. If it is repotted at this time, it will be very detrimental to its growth. It is easy for the leaves to wither and fall off, or even die. Generally, you should place it in a cool place with good air circulation and wait for it to grow for a while before you can change the pot.

3. Time for changing pots

If you want to repot azalea, it is best to do so in spring and autumn, when the climate is stable. Do not do this during flowering period or in winter, as it will be difficult for the plant to adapt to the new environment.
