Ginkgo sowing time, ginkgo seed propagation method

Ginkgo sowing time, ginkgo seed propagation method

1. Sowing time

Ginkgo is usually sown in spring, usually in early April. The climate is warm at this time and the temperature is gradually rising, which is helpful for the rooting and germination of seeds. Seedlings are very afraid of mild and strong light, so if they are sown in summer, the survival rate will not be high, and it will also affect their development, and it will be difficult to recover in autumn. Seeds can also be sown in autumn and winter, but usually do not germinate until spring.

2. Early germination

In order to make ginkgo seeds have a higher germination rate, they need to be germinated in advance. Prepare a basin of warm water and soak the seeds in it for 2-3 days, changing the water every day. Then take it out and put it on plastic paper, spray it with water once in the morning or evening with a spray bottle to keep it moist, and it will sprout in about a week.

3. Sowing

Ginkgo is generally planted in places with relatively high terrain, while ensuring sufficient water and good drainage. Before planting, the ground should be leveled, and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied and then turned into the ground. The seeds should be sown in the soil, and the sprouts should face downwards. For large-scale sowing, the row spacing should be controlled between 20-30 cm and the plant spacing should be 10 cm so as not to affect growth.

4. How seeds spread

Ginkgo fruits will fall naturally when they are ripe. If there is a strong wind, they will roll to other places. As long as there is a suitable environment, the seeds will take root and sprout.
