How to prevent southern grapes from dormancy and break dormancy

1. How to avoid hibernation

Dormancy is affected by the environment. If it is a continuous low temperature environment, nutrients cannot be accumulated and it will not germinate. The dormancy process also ends slowly. After a certain low temperature is reached, it will take a period of warm temperature before the seeds sprout and resume growth. It needs to go through 1000-1500 hours of low temperature, with the temperature at 7 degrees, in order to break dormancy, but it also depends on the specific variety.

2. How to break dormancy

1. Physical sleep-breaking method: When the temperature is between 7-8 degrees, cover the shed with film and add hay outside for heating. Uncover the hay at night and cover it again in the morning. This will help to take some cooling measures such as the low temperature at night. It will take about 20-30 days to ensure its required cooling capacity. The temperature will rise later to break the pruning. In addition, after entering dormancy, you can also check the temperature at night. When it is below 12 degrees, spray the fruit trees with water every day, once every 40-70 minutes. This can promote germination and break dormancy.

2. Chemical dormancy-breaking method: The chemical dormancy-breaking method uses a dormant agent to break dormancy. There are many kinds of sleep-destroying agents, such as mineral oil plus ammonium nitrate or growth regulators, or cyanamide-based sleep-destroying agents. Among them, cyanamide-type sleeping pills are relatively simple to use, have good effects, and are used more frequently.
