1. Layering timeThe time for layering plum blossoms is mostly from February to March, and it should generally be done on sunny days. If it is rainy, it will affect its survival. As the saying goes, plum blossoms will not bloom until the beginning of spring, so the time should generally not be later than the beginning of spring. Usually, layering is done in spring and the division can be done in early winter, but the latest time is to wait until early spring of the following year. 2. Layering method1. Select branches: In order to ensure the success rate of layering, you must first select good plum branches. Generally, 1-3 year old strong branches are selected, and the age of the branches determines the layering method. 1-2 year old branches need to use ordinary layering method, while branches over 2 years old need to use high-altitude layering method. 2. Appropriate treatment: After selecting the branches, they need to be ringed. The ring barking position is generally in the middle of the branch, with a width of about 5 cm. The ring-barking area should be sprayed with carbendazim for disinfection to prevent it from being infected by bacteria in the air, causing it to rot and be unable to take root. 3. Rooting and transplanting: After processing the branches, layering is needed. Generally, wrap the ring-barking position with moss or wet fertilizer soil, then wrap it with a layer of plastic cloth and tie it tightly at both ends. This can keep the inside moist and prevent water loss. Generally, the plant will take root after its leaves fall in autumn, so you can just cut it off and replant it. 4. Subsequent maintenance: After replanting it, it needs to be watered with an appropriate amount of water. Since it is usually in winter, it is not advisable to water too much. In addition, if the climate is cold, it needs to be kept warm to prevent the branches from being frostbitten. After spring, you can increase watering and apply a little nitrogen fertilizer to promote growth. |
