How to pot gardenias bought online

How to pot gardenias bought online

1. Check the plants

If you buy gardenias online, you need to open the package immediately and check the condition of the plants. If there are diseases or pests on the roots or branches and leaves, you need to deal with them in advance. Remove the soil attached to the roots, then prune the root system, cut off old and rotten roots, and also cut off yellow or rotten leaves on the plant.

2. Prepare the soil

The soil on the plant is not suitable for home maintenance and may be infected with diseases and pests, so new potting soil should be prepared for planting. The flower pot should not be too large, and there must be drainage holes at the bottom of the pot to facilitate water drainage. The soil is required to be breathable, loose, and well-drained. It can be prepared with garden soil, leaf mold, and coarse sand to ensure nutrition and breathability.

3. Planting in pots

After selecting the flower pots and soil, place broken tiles on the bottom to allow drainage and ventilation, then place a layer of gravel on top, then fill it with soil, add a little organic fertilizer, and then cover it with a layer of potting soil. Place the plant in the center of the pot without damaging the roots, then fill it with the remaining soil, pressing gently to cover the roots.

4. Post-maintenance

After planting, you can water the pot until it is thoroughly watered. Don't rush to expose it to sunlight. Place it in a cool place to slowly grow seedlings. Pay attention to good ventilation. The seedlings will slowly grow in about 15 days and you can then maintain them normally.
