How to propagate ivy using water cuttings

1. Time Selection

The best time to plant ivy in water is summer, when the temperature is relatively high, the air is humid, and the growth rate is fast, which is very conducive to rooting.

2. Choose branches

Choose a healthy plant and cut off branches with good growth from it. You can choose to cut them from the top, about 8 cm. The leaves at the bottom should be removed to prevent them from being soaked in water, otherwise they will cause rot, affect the water quality, and will also be detrimental to root growth.

3. Preparation

Prepare the container for hydroponics. Transparent glass products can be used so that the growth of the roots can be clearly observed. They cannot be used directly and need to be washed, disinfected and dried first. There are not many requirements for water quality. You can use tap water that has been left to stand and the plant will take root after the chlorine evaporates.

4. Hydroponic cuttings

Fill a certain amount of water in the container, then insert the branches into the water, with the water level covering about 1/3 of the plant.

5. Post-maintenance

In order to ensure normal root growth, you must do a good job of post-maintenance and pay attention to the frequency of water changes. You can change the water once a week on a normal basis. Make sure to provide light, but don't expose it to direct sunlight. White roots will grow after a few days, which means that the branches have been successfully inserted into the water.
