Peacock ball leaf cutting method

Peacock ball leaf cutting method

1. Can it be grown by leaf cuttings?

There are leaves on the peacock ball, but the leaves are relatively small and do not have the ability to take root, so they cannot take root using this method. Cutting the leaves and burying them in the soil will only cause rot. If you want to propagate by cuttings, you can choose branches for cuttings. This method has a higher survival rate and is also very commonly used. Cut strong branches from healthy peacock balls and carry out cuttings in May to September. Generally, they will take root in 15-20 days. This method is recommended.

2. Other methods

In addition to cuttings, there are several other propagation methods, and layering and grafting are commonly used in households.

1. Layering: Choose strong branches from the plant, not too short, then bury this fleshy branch in the soil, spray water and keep it moist. It will take root after a period of time. Then you can separate the branch from the peacock ball and just pay attention to maintenance.

2. Grafting: First choose a suitable rootstock. You can use dragon bones as the rootstock. Cut strong branches from the original peacock ball, cut a small incision on each of them, and insert the two together. In order to fix them, you can tie a belt on the outside, and then untie it after they grow together.
