1. Morphological characteristics

Dandelion is a perennial herb with a conical, slightly curved root that is 4-10 cm long and has a brown surface. Its leaves are lanceolate, sometimes deeply pinnate-shaped, with the lobes at the top being relatively large, mostly triangular, and with serrated edges. Its peduncle is about 10-25 cm high, purple-red on the upper part with white soft hairs, the flowers are capitulate, the ligulate flowers are yellow, and there are purple-red stripes on the back. The fruit is an achene, dark brown in color, less than 5 mm long, with white pappus that can float in the wind.

2. Growth Environment

Dandelions are widely distributed in my country, from Northeast China and North China in the north to Southwest China and South China in the south, and can also be found in Central China. It mainly grows on hillside meadows, fields, roadsides and riverbanks. It has strong adaptability. It can grow healthily whether it is hot or cold, wet or dry.

3. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Dandelions do not have high requirements for soil. Like many plants, they grow well in loose sandy loam rich in humus.

2. Light: Adequate light is helpful to the growth of dandelions, and it can tolerate strong light and can still grow in summer.

3. Watering: Dandelions prefer a humid environment, so they must be watered frequently during their growing period to keep the soil in the pot moist and avoid long-term drought.

4. Fertilization: If you grow dandelions on a large scale, you must apply enough base fertilizer. Liquid fertilizer and high-efficiency nitrogen fertilizer should be supplemented during the seedling stage, and nitrogen fertilizer should be used mainly during the growth period.
