It is now popular to grow "leeks" in flower pots. Learn this method and you can harvest crop after crop!

I heard that growing leeks in flower pots is very popular recently. Leeks are green and juicy, and they are refreshing and appetizing to eat. Growing them at home is indeed a good choice. However, there are certain ways and techniques to grow leeks, otherwise they will not grow vigorously. Huahua knows some tips on growing leeks, which can make the leeks in your home grow tall and fat!

Generally, we choose two methods to grow leeks, one is sowing, and the other is planting with leek roots.

1. Seeding method

The sowing method requires us to prepare fresh, non-expired leek seeds. Before planting, they need to be soaked in water for three or four hours, and then wrapped in paper towels to germinate. The method of germination is very simple. Just wrap the seeds in toilet paper, and then spray the toilet paper with water. Do this by spraying some water every day for four or five days, and the leek seeds will sprout tender white sprouts. If you plant it at this time, it will germinate and grow much faster.

2. Leek root planting method

This is the most common and easiest method we use to grow chives in pots. When we plant leek roots, we try to choose a larger flowerpot, because leek grows fast, which means the root system will be very developed, so we need to leave enough space for growth. If you want chives to grow fast and well, here is a tip from Huahua, which is to use base fertilizer well when planting. Chives are a plant that likes fertilizer. With good fertilizer, they will naturally grow much better.

As the base fertilizer for growing leeks, we can mix wood ash and chicken manure together. The next step is to cover it with soil and then put the leeks in. Remember that when planting chives, you don't need to cover the soil too much, just enough to cover the roots. After planting, we first water the chives thoroughly, and then place them in a sunny and ventilated place for maintenance. In about half a month, we can see the chives sprouting.

When the chives grow to 20 to 40 centimeters, they can be harvested and eaten. Before harvesting, we apply a thin layer of fertilizer and water, so that the leeks can enter a vigorous growth stage after harvesting. This can be repeated. A pot of leeks can be harvested for two or three years. It is really convenient to harvest one crop after another.

Friends who like to eat leeks can choose to plant a few more pots at home. However, when planting, you should also pay attention to the spacing between the leeks. They should not be too dense, otherwise they will not get enough nutrients and their growth will be unsatisfactory. If there are better vegetables suitable for growing in pots, please leave a message in the comment section to tell Huahua.
