How to cultivate the sedge

How to cultivate the sedge

1. Soil

It has a relatively strong root system and can usually adapt to a variety of soils. It can also grow in poor soil, but it can grow better if it is given humus containing rotten leaves and soil with strong air permeability.

2. Lighting

It can accept direct sunlight, especially during its growth period, it can withstand more sunlight, so that it can grow better. Generally speaking, a south-facing balcony is a good choice.

3. Temperature

It likes to grow in an environment of 15-35 degrees and can withstand severe cold, but it should generally not be placed outdoors in winter, otherwise it will be frostbitten. The temperature of flowers moved indoors should be controlled at around 10 degrees, neither too high nor too low.

4. Watering

It can be watered moderately and is drought tolerant. Generally, it is advisable to wait until the soil in the pot becomes dry before watering it sufficiently. Keeping the potting soil relatively moist will be more conducive to its growth. In the summer when the temperature is high, you should water it more often to promote flowering.

5. Fertilization

Fertilizer and water can be applied every 10-15 days. Generally, flower fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium can be applied before flowering, and such fertilizer should also be applied after the flowers fade.

6. Notes

When planting it, you can add decomposed flower fertilizer at the bottom of the pot to help it absorb nutrients. You can add drainage holes and other designs at the bottom to facilitate root breathing. It can usually be propagated by seeds in early spring.
