What to do if it rains when growing succulents outdoors

What to do if it rains when growing succulents outdoors

1. Build a rain shelter

Succulent plants are afraid of waterlogging and are easily infected with black rot after rain, which has a great impact on the growth of the plants. You can put up a canopy over the plant to protect it from rain. However, it should be removed in time after a sunny day to prevent the plant from not receiving light.

2. Stop watering

Since the air is relatively humid during the rainy season and succulents have a good ability to store water, they will not lack water. Furthermore, the evaporation rate is slow during the rainy season. After watering, the soil in the pot will remain moist for a long time, which can easily breed bacteria and is not conducive to growth.

3. Improve ventilation

Rainy weather can easily breed bacteria, and long-term lack of sunlight will also reduce the resistance of succulents. In order to prevent it from being infected by various diseases and pests, the ventilation of the environment needs to be strengthened.

4. Loose soil and drain water

If there is no rain shelter, the soil of the succulent plants grown outdoors will be too moist and even waterlogging will form. The accumulated water needs to be drained out in time to avoid submerging the roots. At the same time, loosen the soil after the rain stops to accelerate the evaporation of water and reduce the possibility of bacterial growth.
