How to raise geese?

Raising poultry is quite common in rural areas. Some friends choose to raise chickens and ducks, while some friends choose to raise geese. The economic value of geese is still very high, but it is very important to learn the techniques and methods of raising geese.

1. Hatchling stage

Insulation and environment: Newly hatched goslings need to be kept warm. The temperature of the breeding environment should be maintained at 28-30℃ and the humidity should be controlled at around 55%. As the goslings grow, the ambient temperature can be lowered by 2°C per week until they can adapt to the natural environment.

First feeding: The first feeding of goslings should be easily digestible food, such as fresh grass and feed with good palatability.

Bathing: Avoid bathing the geese in water when they are young chicks, and then start giving them shallow water baths when they are one week old.

2. Growing period

Growth and development: Starting from the fourth week after hatching, geese enter a period of rapid growth, when they begin to change their feathers, grow meat and bones.

Summer management: In summer, be careful not to overgraze, strengthen disease prevention and control, vaccinate in time, and add 2-3 supplementary feeds on top of normal food intake.

Feed and Observation: Pay attention to the nutritional balance of the feed, combining roughage and concentrated feed. By observing the goose's feces, you can judge whether the feed combination is appropriate and make timely adjustments.

3. Egg-laying period

Nutrition and grouping: Ensure the nutritional supply of the geese and raise them in groups with a male-to-female ratio of 1:4 to increase the fertilization rate.

Grazing time: Grazing should be carried out in the morning after the geese lay eggs. Soft straw should be laid in the goose house to promote collective egg laying and reduce eggshell damage.

Light management: Adequate light is required during the egg-laying period. If natural light is insufficient, artificial supplementation is required to ensure that the daily light time exceeds 13 hours.

4. Repair period

Artificial molting: After the egg-laying period, the mother goose lacks physical strength and nutrition and needs to be artificially molted, which should be done in batches as much as possible.

Management during the molting period: Geese may experience unsteady movements and loss of appetite during the molting period. This is normal. At the same time, the goose house must be kept clean, dry and ventilated.

Feed adjustment: Add high-protein concentrate to the feed to promote rapid growth of feathers.

In summary, raising geese is a process that requires meticulous management, and different growth stages require different feeding methods.
