How to care for green radish

How to care for green radish

How to illuminate?

The green ivy does not have very high requirements for light. It is generally best placed in a natural diffuse light environment, such as the living room, kitchen, or bathroom, which is relatively bright. Be sure to keep it ventilated at all times.

How to water?

Compared with other plants, green radish prefers moisture. Water about twice a week. But this is just a reference. You can determine the frequency of watering and the amount of water each time according to the specific situation of the plant. Remember not to allow water to accumulate. You can spray water on the leaves to keep them green and full.

How to fertilize?

Pothos is a foliage plant and nitrogen fertilizer is usually used as the main fertilizer. You can use decomposed rice water every 15-20 days instead of daily watering. Don’t pour out the rice water you use. Collect it in a bottle and expose it to the sun for more than half a month before using it.

What to do with yellow leaves?

Although the green radish is evergreen all year round, yellow leaves are inevitable during maintenance. So how should we deal with it?

Yellow leaves due to lack of water:

The leaves begin to turn yellow and dry up from the edges. This situation is caused by lack of water. We need to remove the yellow leaves and water it thoroughly, and then it will recover on its own.

Overwatering and yellow leaves:

The leaves are dark yellow and dull. The green leaves are also slightly wilted and lifeless.

At this time, we should stop watering, move the green radish to a ventilated environment, and loosen the soil immediately to speed up the evaporation of water in the soil, and then water it again after about 1 week.

Yellow leaves exposed to the sun:

Burn marks will appear on the leaves, which will become dry and brown.

In this case, we should immediately move the green radish to a cool place and spray water on the leaves after about 20 minutes.

Insufficient light and yellow leaves:

Newly grown leaves are yellow, while older leaves are greener but lack luster.

At this time, we just need to move it to a ventilated and bright environment.

Yellow leaves due to lack of fertilizer:

The leaves become thinner and gradually turn yellow from the roots.

If you encounter this situation, you should fertilize the green radish. You can use decomposed rice water.

Fertilizer with yellow leaves:

The leaves are thick but dull, rough to the touch, and have densely packed light yellow spots.

If the situation is not very serious, we can loosen the soil, water it thoroughly to dilute the fertilizer, and increase ventilation. If this situation occurs on a large scale, it is necessary to change the pots and soil, and ensure that no fertilizer is applied within 1-2 months.

What to do with root rot?

Root rot of green radish is generally manifested as large-scale yellow leaves, wilting, and lodging. At this time, we need to perform a "major operation" on it.

① Take the green radish out of the pot, remove the soil from the roots, and wash it clean.

② Cut off rotten roots, old roots, weak roots, and roots that are too long and dense.

③ Cut off yellow leaves and severely wilted leaves.

④ Disinfect the roots of the green radish with carbendazim solution for about 30 minutes.

⑥ Then transplant the green radish into a new potting soil, which can be mixed with leaf mold and perlite in a ratio of 4:1. Be careful not to water immediately, wait 2-3 days before watering. Wait until it recovers and then maintain it normally.

Another pot?

If you want to grow multiple pots of green radish from one, the only options are to buy more or to do cuttings. It is easy to grow green radish by cuttings, so give it a try!

① Cut strong and healthy branches from the mother plant of the green radish, preferably with leaves, about 8-10cm.

② Make the cut end of the branch into a 45-degree slope and apply rooting powder.

③ Prepare a bottle, fill it with 2/3 water, and insert the green radish into the water.

④ In about 15-20 days, the green radish will grow new roots, and then you can transplant it into a pot.

⑤ Soon, a new pot of green radish was grown.

The vitality of green radish is very strong.

But you still have to take good care of it.

Timely treatment of problems,

Otherwise, no matter how strong your vitality is, it won’t be able to withstand the damage!
