How to grow snapdragon in spring

How to grow snapdragon in spring

1. Water

Snapdragon likes moisture but cannot tolerate waterlogging. If there is water accumulation in the soil, the roots of the plant may rot easily. Before watering it, observe the condition of the soil. If the soil is moist, there is no need to water it for the time being. If the soil is dry, it needs to be watered, and the amount of water should be based on the standard of watering until the soil is completely moist.

2. Pruning

If you sow snapdragon in spring, you need to remove the heart when it grows to about ten centimeters. This is to stimulate the growth of side branches and increase the number of flowers. Plants sown in spring will probably bloom in late spring, and pruning should begin at this time. The branches that have bloomed need to be cut off to concentrate nutrients for use on branches that have not bloomed.

3. Fertilization

When applying fertilizer, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be used as the main fertilizers because its roots have the function of fixing nitrogen. Unless under special circumstances, do not use nitrogen fertilizer. Before each fertilization, the soil should be loosened slightly to promote fertilizer penetration and help the plants absorb it.

4. Lighting

If the light cannot meet the needs of the plant, the branches of the plant will grow very long and the color of the flowers will not be bright. If there is sufficient light, the plants will grow more neatly and the flowers will bloom beautifully. For spring maintenance, ensure that the plant can receive five hours of diffuse light every day. Under normal circumstances, it can receive light normally in the morning and evening, and needs shade at noon.
