Cultivation methods and precautions of Artemisia selengensis

Cultivation methods and precautions of Artemisia selengensis

1. Temperature

It likes to grow in a warm environment, so pay attention to controlling high and low temperatures when maintaining it. The temperature must be above 10 degrees in winter, otherwise the growth will stop due to the low temperature. During the high temperatures in summer, the plant needs to be shielded from light and strong sunlight is prohibited. You can place a sunshade above the plant to block it and avoid sunburn.

2. Watering

Sterculia is drought-tolerant and does not require frequent watering during maintenance. Usually it is enough to water it once every five days, and water accumulation is strictly prohibited. Drain water in time during the rainy season to avoid water accumulation and damage to the roots. Control the watering when the temperature is low in winter, and don’t water if the soil is not dry.

3. Fertilization

It doesn't need much fertilizer to grow, usually just fertilize before and after flowering. Applying fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus fertilizer should be applied once before flowering to prolong the flowering period. After flowering, too many nutrients are consumed, so liquid fertilizer should be applied every two months or so to help recover as quickly as possible.

4. Pruning

During the maintenance period, timely pruning should be carried out to remove diseased, broken and weak branches to prevent nutrient loss and promote the plant to grow stronger. Pruning should be done during the peak growing season, and just cut short from the third node.

5. Notes

If the environment is not suitable or the maintenance method is inappropriate, it is easy to cause root rot, especially in winter. There should be more ventilation, and when the leaves turn yellow, spray pesticides in time to avoid further deterioration and affect growth.
