How to grow plum blossoms in winter

How to grow plum blossoms in winter

1. Control the amount of water

Although plum blossoms are relatively cold-resistant, the amount of watering still needs to be controlled during winter care to avoid water accumulation at the roots, which can easily cause root rot and affect growth. It is best to water when the soil is dry. Do not water if the soil is not dry. In addition, pay attention to the temperature of the water, which should be close to the environment and not too hot or too cold.

2. Apply fertilizer appropriately

In winter, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in moderation and sufficient nutrients to achieve better growth and development. The frequency is about once every half a month. Use thin fertilizer and it is strictly forbidden to use compost, otherwise it will be difficult for the roots to absorb and the roots will easily burn.

3. Suitable light and temperature

The light in winter is very mild, so the plum blossoms need to receive sufficient sunlight, about 6-8 hours of sunlight a day. Sufficient light can help them bloom better. If the weather does not permit, artificial lighting should be provided. In addition, the temperature also has requirements. It must be between 8-12 degrees and cannot be too low, otherwise it will affect the growth.

4. Timely pruning

In addition to maintenance, timely pruning is also required in winter. Cut off all diseased and dead branches. If the branches are too long, cut them short. If they are too dense, comb them. In short, save nutrients and allow all branches to receive light and absorb nutrients so that they will grow better.
