How to grow Ficus microcarpa

How to grow Ficus microcarpa

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When breeding, you should use well-breathable and fertile soil. You can mix garden soil, peat soil and humus soil to make planting soil. In addition, the soil should be slightly acidic, which is more conducive to plant growth.

2. Watering: It likes a humid environment, so keep it moist when watering, but water accumulation is strictly prohibited. In summer, you need to water more to reduce temperature, and also sprinkle water frequently to increase humidity. However, the growth rate slows down in winter and water should be controlled.

3. Temperature: It is best to provide an environment between 25 and 35 degrees. It has poor cold resistance, so the temperature must be controlled in winter and kept above 5 degrees. Otherwise, it will easily get frostbite, affecting its growth and making it unable to survive the winter.

4. Light: It should be kept in a place with scattered light. If the light is appropriate and sufficient, the leaves will be greener and more lustrous. If placed in a cool place for a long time, the plant will become lifeless and wilt.

2. Breeding Methods

Ficus microcarpa can be propagated by both cuttings and layering. However, cuttings are more commonly used, simple and have a high survival rate. When taking cuttings, use one to two years old branches as cuttings. After drying the wounds, insert them into the soil. Pay attention to temperature control and they will take root and survive in about a month. When layering propagates, use semi-woody branches. After processing, the temperature must be controlled. If successful, it can survive in one month. The survival rate is lower than the former.
