How to care for Monstera and how to propagate it using aerial roots

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: The requirements for this condition are not very high. Loam containing some humus will make it grow better. The drainage and ventilation effects need to be better, and the pH value should be slightly lower. If the pH value increases due to repeated watering, you can alleviate it by adding acidic substances.

2. Water: It has a great demand for water. In spring and autumn, it can be watered once a day to fully maintain good growth. As summer approaches and the temperature rises, you can change it to once in the morning and once in the evening. In winter, water demand is significantly reduced, so it should not be applied so frequently, once every 3-4 days is enough.

3. Sunlight: It can tolerate shade, but is very averse to direct sunlight. It can be placed in a bright place.

4. Temperature: It can grow well at normal room temperature, but cannot withstand the cold. The temperature for wintering should be kept above 5 degrees Celsius.

2. How to propagate using aerial roots

1. Time: Mid-April is the most suitable time.

2. Substrate: Prepare a flower pot and fill it with nutrient soil.

3. Cutting: Cut branches with two nodes from the stem, insert them into the soil with leaves, and add enough water. Bury the aerial roots in front in another pot and keep them moist.

4. Late stage: In an environment of 21-27 degrees Celsius, it will take about 30 days to take root, and the aerial roots at the front of the other pot will also grow roots. Just wait 20 days and cut it off.
