How to grow roses in autumn

1. Pruning

Pruning is an important step in fall maintenance. However, the pruning methods for autumn-flowering roses and non-flowering roses are different. If it is a flowering rose, the main pruning is after the flowers have faded. First, cut off the dead flowers and withered flowers and branches. Then the main task is to control the height. If there are branches with more than five leaves, cut off a little bit of their top, which is somewhat similar to topping.

If the rose does not bloom, it needs to be pruned according to its growth. If the growth is good, then just cut off half of the length of the branch, which is half-heavy pruning. If the growth is poor, then heavy pruning is required from the root. Pruning can not only promote activity, but also help it grow better next year.

2. Lighting

Rose is a light-loving plant, so it needs to be provided with sufficient light in autumn. Generally speaking, it takes at least six or seven hours a day. However, the light cannot be too strong, otherwise you may get burned.

3. Watering

Generally speaking, water the plants every two to three days, but don't water them too much.

4. Disease prevention and control

Even in autumn, some diseases may occur, such as powdery mildew. Regular disinfection and prevention should be carried out before discovery, and the infected area should be treated promptly after discovery.
