How to propagate verbena

How to propagate verbena

Reproduction method

There are three ways of propagation: seed propagation, cutting propagation, and root cutting and division propagation.

Although the sowing method of propagation can grow large areas of plants in a short period of time, it takes a long time to see their flowers, so the only advantage of the introduction method is the large quantity.

The propagation method of cuttings is not only simple, but also can produce flowers in a short time. But the number of reproduction is very limited.

Cuttings

Time: Spring and summer

Method: Select healthy apical buds for cuttings in spring and summer every year. It is very easy for cuttings to root and they can grow into independent seedlings in about 4 weeks.

Root cutting

Time: Spring

Method: Dig out the entire plant in spring, being careful not to damage its roots, then cut it into several plants, each with a small piece of root, and then plant them in the soil.

sowing

Time: Spring

Method: Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the soil, control the temperature between 20 and 25 degrees, and small sprouts will emerge in about 10 to 15 days. When the small sprouts grow 2 to 3 pairs of leaves, they can be transplanted. They can be transplanted into nutrient pots first, and then transplanted after two months, so that the small sprouts will be healthy.

Editor's reminder:

Regardless of which method is used, the subsequent maintenance work must be done well so that the plants can grow faster.
