What soil and fertilizer to use for potted wintersweet

What soil and fertilizer to use for potted wintersweet

1. Soil selection

1. Soil requirements: Wintersweet is not very strict about the soil, but it cannot be used casually. It is suitable for growing in loose and air-permeable soil. In addition, the drainage of the cultivation soil must be good enough to avoid using heavy and sticky soil.

2. Soil selection: You can use garden soil, compost soil and a small amount of sand mixed evenly for use. You can also add some organic fertilizer during cultivation. If the soil does not drain well, add some coal stove ash particles. You can also put some gravel at the bottom of the soil to make it more breathable.

2. What fertilizer to apply

Plants require different fertilizers at different stages of growth. When it is first planted, it needs to be fertilized with base fertilizer, and leaf mold fertilizer can be used. Compound fertilizer needs to be applied in spring, and during the flower bud differentiation stage, fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium should be applied. The amount of fertilizer applied at this stage should be smaller, and the concentration should not be too high, otherwise it will easily burn the roots. From autumn to winter, the main thing is to apply an appropriate amount of liquid fertilizer to it so that it has enough nutrients when it blooms.

3. Notes

Whenever you fertilize, use small amounts and multiple times. If a large amount of fertilizer is applied each time, it will be difficult for the plant to absorb it, and fertilizer damage is very likely to occur.
