Flower soil into the pot

Use an abandoned iron basin to hold the soil dug from the fields, set up two bricks as a stove, light the fire and stir-fry. This method kills pests and diseases as well as weed seeds in the soil.

It turned out that what this flower lover put into the pot was the soil for growing jasmine. In fact, there are many ways to disinfect flower soil.

Microwave disinfection

Water the potting soil to wet it, put it in the microwave, and rotate it for 3 minutes for every 100 grams of wet soil to kill the pests remaining in the flower soil.

Sun exposure disinfection

Spread the flower soil flat and dry it in a place where it can be exposed to direct sunlight for more than a week to kill pathogenic spores, pests, etc. in the soil.

Potassium permanganate disinfection

Prepare potassium permanganate solution by mixing potassium permanganate and water in a ratio of 1:350. Soak the flower soil in the solution for more than 5 minutes.

Disinfecting the flower soil is beneficial to the healthy growth of jasmine and the blooming of flowers. But the master told Huahua that just doing this was not enough. Huahua secretly learned how to care for jasmine and would like to share it with you~

Daily care of jasmine

If jasmine is well maintained, it can bloom from May to October, and its flowering period is very long. If you want the jasmine flowers in your home to bloom continuously, you must take good care of them in terms of light, water, fertilizer, etc.

1. Ensure sufficient light

After April, the temperature rises quickly and jasmine enters a period of vigorous growth. At this time, jasmine has a great demand for light and should be placed on a south balcony or outdoors with sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, the flowers will easily grow too tall.

2. Keep the soil moist

Jasmine likes water. After entering spring, water it every 3-4 days to keep the soil moist. Water it thoroughly each time until water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

3. Add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in time

April and May are the stage of flower bud differentiation of jasmine, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be supplemented, such as decomposed cake fertilizer water or bone meal. Alternatively, you can bury crushed and sun-dried egg shells in the soil and water it with dipotassium phosphate once a week.

Jasmine pruning

Pruning can prevent the jasmine plant from being short and can allow it to grow more branches, resulting in more flower buds, so that the branches are full of flowers.

1. Pruning during the growing season

In spring, it is necessary to promptly cut off the weak branches, dead branches and fibrous roots of jasmine during the winter, and cut off the parts that compete for nutrients, so that jasmine can store nutrients and bloom early.

1. Remove the plants from the soil

Pruning during the growing season should be combined with repotting. Remove the jasmine plant from the potting soil and gently shake off the soil at the roots.

2. Cut off the dense roots and branches

Cut off the fibrous roots that grow too densely at the roots, and trim the branches that are too long to make them of uniform length.

2. Prune after the flowers fade

In summer, the branches of jasmine are prone to sprout after the first flowers fade. These branches produce few flowers and compete for nutrients, so they should be pruned off in time.

Prune the remaining branches after flowering in time, leaving 3-5 nodes and cut off the top to promote new branches.

That’s all for today’s little knowledge about jasmine.
