How to grow blue stone lotus in autumn

How to grow blue stone lotus in autumn

1. Increase watering

Although blue stone lotus does not have an obvious dormant period, when the temperature is too high in summer, it will enter a short dormancy and temporarily stop growing. During this period, it is necessary to cut off water. When the temperature drops in autumn, it will wake up from its dormant period and needs proper watering to satisfy its growth. When watering, water slowly at first to give it time to adapt, and then water the soil until it is slightly moist. After it has adapted, watering should follow the principle of watering thoroughly if the soil is dry and not watering if the soil is not dry. Do not water too much when watering, as it will easily cause waterlogging and root rot.

2. Increase Lighting

Autumn is the growing season, and it needs sufficient light to metabolize normally. The sunlight in early autumn is still relatively strong. Normal sunlight can be obtained in the morning and evening, but appropriate shade is needed at noon. In late autumn, the days are short and the sunshine is mild, allowing sunlight to shine all day long.

3. Supplementary fertilization

Fertilizer consumption is severe during the growing period and additional fertilizer is needed. Its roots are sensitive and its branches and leaves are delicate, so it is forbidden to use concentrated fertilizers. The fertilizer cake can be diluted for later use. As mentioned earlier, its branches and leaves are relatively delicate, so foliar fertilizer is not suitable. The frequency of fertilization is twice a month. In late autumn and early winter, slowly reduce the amount of fertilizer until it is stopped. In late autumn, it will slowly stop growing and the leaves at the base will slowly wither. These withered leaves need to be removed to avoid nutrient consumption.
