The cutting method and time of Begonia flowers. When is the best time to do cutting?

When taking cuttings of Begonia semperflorens, you can choose to do it in spring from April to May every year . The temperature and humidity at this time are more suitable, which can make the Begonia semperflorens take root quickly.

When taking cuttings of Begonia, choose healthy plants, insert the cuttings into fertile soil after pruning, and then place the cuttings in a ventilated and cool place so that they can take root as soon as possible.

Begonia cutting time

Begonia can grow all year round, so it can be propagated by cuttings all year round. However, in terms of its growth habits, it is best to choose spring from April to May for propagation.

Because the climate is more suitable at this time, the temperature can be stabilized at around 20℃. In such an environment, the cuttings are easier to take root, management will be less troublesome, and the survival rate will be greatly improved.

How to propagate Begonia by cuttings

1. Processing cuttings

When cutting, you should choose healthy, strong, and bud-free branches. The plugs do not need to be very long, maybe 5-6 cm long. It is best to have two buds on each branch. If there are too many upper leaves, you need to cut off some of them to reduce nutrient consumption and transpiration.

2. Prepare the potting soil

The soil used for cutting begonias should be loose and breathable, and preferably have a certain amount of fertility, which is conducive to rooting. When preparing, you can mix three parts of peat soil and one part of perlite. After preparation, it should be exposed to strong light for disinfection to avoid containing insect eggs or bacteria.

3. Insert the seeds into the soil

It is best to cut the bottom of the begonia cuttings into an inclined surface so that it can better absorb fertilizer and water. You can also dip it in rooting powder and then put it directly into the base material. After transplanting, compact the surrounding soil and spray water frequently to keep it moist.

Maintain the optimal temperature of 18-20 degrees, maintain good air circulation, and create a suitable environment, and it will soon take root and sprout.
