Time and method of transplanting Amaryllis

Time and method of transplanting Amaryllis

The transplanting of Amaryllis is usually carried out during its dormant period, usually in January and February each year. The temperature is lower at this time and it is easy to manage, so it can be cultivated indoors and outdoors. Its flowering period is in spring and summer, and it has many colors when it blooms. It is one of the more popular potted flowers.

Transplanting time of Amaryllis

The most suitable season for transplanting Amaryllis is spring and autumn. In spring, it is April to June, and in autumn, it is September to October. Because the temperature at this time can be stable at around 20 degrees, it is conducive to the survival rate of transplanting and can promote vigorous growth in the later period.

Transplanting technology of Amaryllis

Before planting Amaryllis, you need to prepare the soil needed. Remember not to use soil with too high viscosity for cultivation. You can use humus soil or river sand mixed soil. Trim the rotten and dead roots of the bulbs. You can retain 3-4 small bulb roots of Amaryllis, and cut off the rest of the bulbs. After disinfecting them, you can take out the bulbs, dry them and replant them.

Management of Amaryllis after transplantation

You must be very careful about watering, because the spherical bulb of Amaryllis is very easy to rot if the soil is waterlogged. So be sure to water it rather than wet, and water it thoroughly when it is dry, avoiding the center of the bulb to prevent waterlogging and rot in the center.
