Disease control of Alpinia serrulata

Disease control of Alpinia serrulata

Common diseases of Alpinia serrulata

Leaf blight

Leaf blight usually infects the leaf edges and tips, and the lower leaves of the plant are most seriously affected.

In the early stage, it turns yellow, and the yellow part gradually turns brown and necrotic; then, the lesions gradually extend to the base of the leaves until the entire leaf turns brown to gray-brown; in the later stage, some small black spots will appear on the lesions.

Brown spot

The disease begins on the lower leaves and gradually spreads to the upper leaves. The disease is initially round or oval, purple-brown, and black in the later stages. In severe cases, the spots may connect into pieces, causing the leaves to turn yellow and fall off, affecting flowering.

Disease prevention and control methods of Alpinia officinalis

Control leaf blight

First, completely remove diseased fallen leaves in autumn and burn them in a concentrated manner to reduce the source of infection the following year.

Then strengthen cultivation management in normal times to control the occurrence of diseases. Ensure that the Alpinia serrulata can be ventilated and light-permeated, and reduce the humidity on the leaves

When leaf blight occurs, spray Bordeaux mixture 1-3 times every 7-10 days.

Brown spot prevention

Before or during the arrival of high temperature and high humidity weather, apply less or no nitrogen fertilizer, and maintain a certain amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

Avoid watering in the evening.

The fallen leaves of Alpinia serrulata and the surrounding weeds should be removed in time.

After brown spot disease occurs, 1000 times diluted 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder can be sprayed for prevention and control.
