How to propagate Jade Plant by cuttings

How to propagate Jade Plant by cuttings

Jade plant is a plant of the Portulacaceae family. It grows very fast and is more suitable for potted planting as bonsai. You can shape it at will. If it grows fast, the shape will take shape quickly and achieve the effect of bonsai. The main way to propagate jade plant is by cuttings. You can just cut off a branch and a small bud and stick it in the soil and it will survive.

Jade leaf cutting time

There is no limit on the time for Jade Plant cuttings. It can be done in all seasons, but the survival rate is the highest in spring and autumn. Because the temperature in these two seasons is neither high nor low, the plants grow very fast and have a higher survival rate. If you do cuttings in summer, you need to lower the surrounding temperature to provide the plants with a suitable living environment.

Jade Leaf Cutting Method

Cut some branches from those plants that are growing well. Remember to cut branches with leaves, because this kind of branches will have a higher survival rate. The length of the cut branches can be about 8cm-12cm, and then pick off the leaves at the bottom. To prevent the leaves from rotting during the growth process after being inserted into the soil, apply some polysaccharide fungus on the bottom of the cuttings to prevent root rot. Finally, place the plant in a cool place to dry for a few days until the wound heals and then insert it into the soil.

Jade leaf cutting rooting

When inserting the Jade Plant into the soil, do not insert it too deep. It should be about one-third of the way through the cutting. This is because inserting it too deep will affect the plant's breathing, which will slow down the rooting process. Do not use direct light, but use scattered light. Do not place it in a dark environment, as this will cause the plant to rot. The temperature should be kept between 15 and 20 degrees, which is conducive to plant growth and can help it take root quickly.
