Greenhouse strawberry planting technology and management

Greenhouse strawberry planting technology and management

Strawberry is a common fruit. It contains a variety of nutrients and has high edible value and health benefits. Now more and more strawberries are planted, especially greenhouse strawberries. Some are sold wholesale, while others are mainly picked in the surrounding areas, which has also driven economic development.

Greenhouse strawberry planting time

Greenhouse strawberries begin to be planted around July to August and can be harvested in November of the same year. Some are planted later, in September to October, and can be harvested from January to March of the following year, and can continue until May.

Greenhouse strawberry planting technology

When planting strawberries in a greenhouse, choose varieties such as Fengxiang and Mingbao that have many flowers, large fruits, high yields, easy coloring, and few deformed fruits. The soil should be loose and breathable, plowed, and sterilized at high temperatures to remove all possible insect eggs. The land should be convenient for irrigation and drainage. After fine preparation of the land, you can plant the strawberry seedlings. You can directly plant the grown strawberry seedlings, or you can sow the seeds in the greenhouse, but you must control the spacing.

Greenhouse strawberry management methods

When managing greenhouse strawberries, it is best to control the growth temperature between fifteen and twenty-two degrees. When the temperature is below five degrees, you can cover the roof with plastic film to prevent the seedlings from being suffocated by high temperature. Light should be supplemented in time two weeks before the strawberries bloom. Control the amount of watering during the flowering and fruiting periods. Drip irrigation can be used for watering. Bees can be released in the greenhouse for pollination. It is advisable to spray pesticides when there are fewer flowers. Spraying pesticides during the flowering period may cause fruit deformities.
