What causes citrus root rot?

1. Waterlogging and root rot

Reason: When caring for citrus, if the planting soil is poorly drained, it will easily lead to water accumulation in the potting soil after watering too much. If its roots are soaked in water for a long time, they will rot.

Solution: If the root rot is mild, just pay attention to drainage and water control. If the root rot is severe, you need to trim the roots and replant after disinfection. The amount of water supplied should be controlled under normal circumstances and no water should accumulate in the soil.

2. Fertilizer damage

Reason: When fertilizing it, if you apply too much chemical fertilizer, or high-concentration fertilizer and raw fertilizer, or the amount of fertilizer is too large, the roots of the citrus will be burned and rot.

Solution: You should change your usual incorrect fertilization method. You should apply thin fertilizers frequently, and apply a small amount each time. At the same time, do not use fertilizers with higher concentrations. If you apply too much fertilizer, you need to water more to flush the remaining fertilizer out of the pot.

3. Bacterial infection

Reason: If the roots of citrus are infected by pathogens during cultivation, the roots will rot.

Solution: The diseased roots need to be cleaned up as soon as possible and the root system needs to be disinfected. If conditions permit, new soil should be used for cultivation.
