How to propagate Jade Plants by cuttings

How to propagate Jade Plants by cuttings

When propagating the Jade Plant by cuttings, be sure to remember to cut some healthy branches from the mother plant, and it is best to cut branches with leaves. This will increase the survival rate of the Jade Plant. When cutting branches, keep the length of the cuttings at about 8cm to 12cm.

Jade leaf cutting time

Jade Plant is actually a plant that can be propagated by cuttings all year round, but autumn is the most suitable season for it. The surrounding temperature at this time is more suitable for its growth. If it is propagated in summer, the survival rate will be relatively low because the temperature is too high. There is no such worry in autumn. If you are in the south, you can wait until the autumn is cool before doing cuttings.

Jade Leaf Cutting Method

If you want to have a high survival rate of Jade Plant cuttings, you must be careful not to insert the cuttings too deep into the soil. If you really can't control it, use the length of the branch as the standard. Generally, it is enough to insert the cuttings to one-third of the way through. Otherwise, inserting them too deep will affect the Jade Plant's breathing and affect its ultimate survival.

Jade leaf cutting rooting

If you want the Jade Plant to take root quickly after cuttings, you need to prepare some soil with good air permeability for it, because the root system of the Jade Plant is a fleshy stem with a relatively high water content. If the soil has poor air permeability, it will cause the Jade Plant to rot. If conditions permit, you can add some particles such as river sand and coal slag to the soil. After the cuttings are successful, remember to put some carbendazim and rooting liquid in the watering bottle, which can effectively help it take root quickly.
