What should be paid attention to when fertilizing roses (what fertilizers to apply at different stages of roses)

Fertilizing roses is a science. Many people think that it is easy to grow roses. My neighbors think so. They feel impatient when they see me watering and fertilizing roses all day long. Roses can just be planted in the ground, so why make it so troublesome?

He was talking about planting in the ground. Yes, planting roses in the ground does require less management, but if you plant them in pots, will you try it? If you can't keep up with watering and fertilizing, the difference in the roses will immediately show up.

Regarding the issue of fertilizing roses, let me share my own experience. When I first started growing roses, I took a lot of detours due to improper fertilization. I hope you don’t make the same mistakes.

When should roses be fertilized?

1. Rose growth period : Rose needs to be fertilized when it is growing branches.

2. Rose flowering period : Roses will consume a lot of nutrients before and after flowering, so fertilizer is needed at this time.

Roses require different fertilizers at different growth stages

When do roses need to be fertilized throughout the year? Generally, spring is when roses begin to sprout, and at this time, fertilizers are needed. The trace element required for plant stems and leaves is nitrogen.

At this time, we need to apply more nitrogen fertilizer. General compound fertilizer can meet its needs. Of course, there are also flower fertilizers sold online, and multi-element compound fertilizer can be used.

Roses need nutrition the most before and after they bloom. We generally use potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Roses need phosphorus and potassium to bloom. Only when we meet their needs will they bloom in full bloom.

Dilute potassium dihydrogen phosphate 800-2000 times, and then spray it on the leaves or roots. Please note that the concentration should not be too high when using it.

Experiments have shown that if the concentration is too high, it will cause leaf burns, and in severe cases it will cause the death of the rose, so it is better to add more water and spray more times than to save trouble and solve the problem all at once.

Generally, potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed once every 7-10 days. If the concentration is low, you can spray it more often, but do not use it with alkaline pesticides at the same time, and do not spray it in the middle of the day, as the evaporation of the sun will increase the concentration of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and cause burns.

Rose base fertilizer

When preparing the potting soil for roses, we can add some humus as nutrients, but not too much, as it may easily cause root rot.

When adding, you must pay attention to make sure it is fully decomposed before use. It is strictly forbidden to directly use undecomposed materials as the matrix, as the consequences will be serious.

Generally speaking, if the nutrients in the substrate are sufficient, we do not need to apply too much fertilizer at ordinary times. We can apply fertilizer according to the above method during the Spring Festival or before flowering.
