What fertilizers are needed for grape growth (what fertilizer is most suitable for grapes)

Now many villages have grape picking gardens. With the improvement of people's living standards, the prospects are good, and it also brings considerable income to farmers.

To obtain higher yields, fertilizers are essential. According to the growth stage of grapes, different fertilizers are used at different times. Grape fertilization management is generally divided into base fertilizer in the dormant season and topdressing in the growing season . How to manage it?

1. Base fertilizer for grape dormancy period

Winter fertilizer is the basis for the growth of grapes in the second year. Generally, fermented organic farmyard manure is applied, such as chicken manure, cow and sheep manure and other biological organic fertilizers.

Apply the fertilizer more than a month before the grapes enter winter dormancy, usually around September or October, when the grapes have been harvested and are still in the green leaf state.

At the same time, this is also the second peak of root growth. Fertilization can promote the growth of more fibrous roots of grapes, absorb more nutrients, and strengthen the trees, which is conducive to wintering.

Generally, about 800 kilograms of organic fertilizer is used per acre of land . The specific amount depends on the soil organic matter content and soil structure, and can be increased or decreased appropriately.

How to apply it? The general method of use is to dig trenches about 35 cm in depth and 30 cm in width on both sides of the main stem of the grape tree, and bury the organic fertilizer in the trenches .

2. Topdressing during the growth period

There are four phases:

1. Germination fertilizer

Generally, it is applied in March when grapes just sprout. At this time, high-nitrogen compound fertilizer is generally applied. The main purpose is to accelerate germination, make the sprouts uniform, the leaves thick and large, and the inflorescence full and strong. The second fertilization is after the fruit is set. Generally, fertilizers high in phosphorus and potassium are applied to promote balanced fruit setting.

2. Enlarging fertilizer

It is usually applied when the grapes grow to the size of soybeans. At this time, nitrogen fertilizer is the main fertilizer, and compound fertilizer with high nitrogen content can be applied. This is the peak growth season for grapes, and the demand for fertilizer is large. Fertilizer consumption accounts for about 50% of the annual total.

3. Ripening fertilizer

Ripening fertilizer is applied twice. The first application is 20 to 30 days before the grapes mature. It is mainly high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer and can be sprayed on the leaves.

The second application is before the grapes color and soften. This fertilization is very important. Functional fertilizers can be used. It is recommended to use high-phosphorus and high-potassium fertilizers that also contain trace elements to improve the color of the grapes and increase the sugar content.

4. Topdressing after grape picking

High-nitrogen water-soluble fertilizers are usually applied to help the grapes recover quickly and promote flower bud differentiation, laying the foundation for a good harvest in the second year.

[Summary] According to the specific situation, reasonable fertilization can be mastered according to the tree vigor and soil conditions to ensure a good yield of grapes.
