What crops are suitable for growing in Xinjiang? What are the main cash crops in Xinjiang?

Xinjiang is located in the inland of my country. It has a temperate continental climate with large temperature differences and sufficient sunshine hours. Crops grown here are best to be heat-resistant and drought-resistant and adapt to the continental climate.

There are many crops suitable for growing in Xinjiang, such as wheat, corn, cotton, grapes, Hami melon, dates, beets, pears, watermelons, apricots, rice and so on.

Grape

Xinjiang is the earliest region in my country to plant grapes. Not only can they be eaten directly, but they can also be used to make wine. The maintenance method is also very simple. There is almost no need to apply fertilizers or pesticides during the growing season, but the requirements for light are relatively high.

beet

Beet is a herbaceous plant and one of the main raw materials for making sugar. The plant prefers a cool climate environment and requires deep, loose soil with strong fertilizer and water retention capacity. It needs to be sown when the ground temperature is stable.

cantaloupe

Hami melon is also very common in Xinjiang, mostly distributed in Turpan and Hami areas, with a large planting area. Before planting, the soil needs to be turned over and watered, and the ambient temperature should be above 20℃. After planting, only a small amount of fertilizer is needed.

cotton

Cotton is a light-loving crop that grows best under sufficient light conditions. Xinjiang has a relatively dry climate, alkaline soil, large temperature differences in summer, sufficient sunlight, and sufficient photosynthesis, which is suitable for cotton growth.

Rice

The overall water and soil resources in Xinjiang are unbalanced, but some local areas are rich in water resources, especially the spring overflow zone, saline-alkali land, riverbed and other wetlands at the lower edge of the alluvial fan plain, which are not suitable for growing arid crops but are suitable for growing rice.
