How to make mint take root, how to grow it after it takes root in hydroponics

1. How to make mint take root

1. Hydroponic rooting: There are two ways to make mint take root. The first one is hydroponic rooting. Cut the healthy mint branches from the mother plant, prepare a cup of clean water, and insert the cut mint branches directly into the water. The leaves submerged in the water can be picked off. Change the water once a day. The mint will take root in 2-3 days. It is very easy.

2. Rooting in soil: In addition to hydroponics, you can also cut mint branches, insert them in moist potting soil, and directly root them. As for rooting in soil, we need to use moist soil for cuttings, and then wait for the soil surface to turn white and dry, and when you feel the soil in the pot is noticeably lighter, water the soil. Do not water it all the time before the mint takes root to avoid stem rot.

2. How to grow after hydroponics rooting

Mint is easier to take root when grown in water, but if it is transferred to soil after taking root, the roots cannot adapt to the water all at once and it is easy to die. It is best to transfer the mint to soil culture in time when the roots grow to 2cm long. After transferring to soil culture, do not expose it to the sun and place it in a cool and ventilated place. After a week, gradually increase the light and keep the soil moist. After the mint shows obvious growth trends, expose it to more sunlight to prevent the mint from growing too tall.

3. Notes

If you feel that the survival rate of mint cuttings in the soil is low, you can cut the mint runners (creeping stems), cut the runners into several small sections, bury them in the soil, with the leaflets exposed, keep the soil slightly moist, and the rooting survival rate will be as high as 100%.
