Chlorophytum can be grown in water or soil. It is easier to control the growth conditions when growing Chlorophytum in water, but the water needs to be changed frequently. When growing Chlorophytum hydroponica, do not fill the water too full, just enough to submerge the roots. If the roots and leaves cannot be soaked in water, the roots and leaves will rot. Compound Fertilizer

Compound fertilizer can be applied to hydroponic spider plants, mainly to supplement nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. However, the compound fertilizer used must be of low concentration, and can be diluted with water to form liquid fertilizer. Then add it to the water in the container, or directly put 4 to 5 grains of compound fertilizer. Under normal circumstances, during the period of vigorous growth, the spider plant can be fertilized once every 15 days.

Nitrogen Fertilizer

Chlorophytum is a foliage plant. If you want the leaves to grow healthy and lush, you need to supplement nitrogen, so you need to apply nitrogen fertilizer. We can use urea, just add a few small pieces to the water, the ratio of water to urea is usually 800:1.

Nutrient solution

You can make your own nutrient solution to fertilize spider plants, such as fermented rice water or fruit peel water. You can also mix chicken manure, rapeseed cake and ferrous sulfate, add water and ferment to make nutrient solution.

3. Concentration and amount used

The concentration of the nutrient solution used should not be too high to prevent root burn. The water volume in the container of the purchased nutrient solution should be less than 50 ml.

Generally, only 2 or 3 drops of nutrient solution are needed, and the ratio of nutrient solution to water is generally 1:200. However, fertilization with nutrient solution should not be too frequent, and nutrient solution can be used 1 to 2 times a month. However, for spider plants that have entered the growth period, the fertilization interval can be shortened, and the number of fertilizations can be increased if the plant does not grow well.

It is necessary to add nutrient solution when changing the water of spider plants. Usually, the water needs to be changed every 7 to 10 days in spring and autumn, every 5 to 7 days in summer, and every 10 to 15 days in winter.
