The Yellow River Basin is a suitable area for garlic cultivation. At present, some areas have become the main production areas and export bases of garlic in my country. Now is the season for garlic planting. Now we will introduce a garlic planting method and key steps. Methods and steps for growing garlic1. Seed selection Choose seeds with well-developed root systems and plump cloves. The bigger the garlic, the better. If the planting area is large, choose garlic of normal size, so that the growth will be more even after germination. If the seeds have sprouted or withered, they should be removed directly. Choose plump, undamaged garlic. 2. Land preparation Garlic seedlings do not require high soil requirements for growth, but if you want a high yield, it is best to plant them on loose, fertile and well-drained land. Before planting, deep plow the land to a depth of about 20-25 cm. There should be no stones, dead branches or other debris on the land. Then prepare the land to about 1 meter long and up to 4 meters wide, but it depends on the situation. 3. Planting Use large garlic with good color, peel it manually, remove the garlic and stem disk, and use the plump seeds to dry for one to two days, which can increase the germination rate. Place the seeds in the watered soil, about 3-4 cm deep, and space them appropriately, about 5-10 cm apart. Plant the garlic cloves with their backs in the same direction, so that the leaves will grow in the same direction later on. After planting, cover with 1 cm of soil and avoid strong sunlight. Precautions for planting garlic1. Water and fertilizer management When planting garlic seedlings, be sure to keep the soil moist, water it again after two days, and cover it with a film. After a week, the garlic seedlings begin to grow, and the film is removed to allow them to receive sufficient sunlight. When the garlic seedlings grow to 5 cm, apply decomposed organic fertilizer once or once, 4 kg per mu, and add 20 kg of potassium sulfate and 50 kg of superphosphate, sprinkle it evenly on the ground, and mix the soil and fertilizer thoroughly during deep plowing. At the same time, watering and topdressing should be combined with inter-row cultivation and weeding to improve soil permeability and prevent compaction. 2. Planting environment Garlic likes a cold environment and has the characteristics of natural dormancy. If it is sown too early, the seedlings will emerge slowly. After germination, they will grow too vigorously due to the high temperature, resulting in a decrease in the cold resistance of the garlic seedlings. In the later stage, the lower leaves of the plant will tend to turn yellow. When sown late, the garlic seedlings have not grown into adults and have less nutrient accumulation, which is not conducive to overwintering. This results in a short growth period of the garlic seedlings' stems and leaves, fewer leaves, and weak garlic growth, affecting quality and yield. |
