Tips for growing amaryllis

Tips for growing amaryllis

1. Water appropriately

When caring for the plant, do not water too frequently and do not allow water to accumulate. However, water the plant each time until water flows out from the bottom of the pot. . After the temperature drops in winter, the plant will enter a dormant period, during which time it will stop growing and watering must be stopped. The soil must be dry so that it can survive the winter smoothly.

2. Sufficient light

During maintenance, the plant should be placed in a place with sunlight. Only with sufficient light can the flower buds differentiate better and the flowers bloom more beautifully. But please note that it should be scattered light. Strong light will burn the plants and be detrimental to their growth.

3. Suitable temperature

Although it likes a warm environment, it still needs to be cooled when the temperature is high. In summer, water more and ventilate to lower the temperature. Normally, the most suitable temperature is between 18 and 22 degrees, which is beneficial to growth.

4. Reasonable fertilization

When growing, you should add fertilizer frequently, especially during the growing season and before flowering. During the growing season, diluted fertilizer should be applied once a month to meet its nutrient needs. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied in summer to promote flowering. During the winter dormancy period, be sure to stop fertilizing to avoid root burn.

5. Change pots regularly

The plant should be repotted every spring and new soil should be replaced. The soil should be loose and contain humus. You can mix sand, leaf mold and compost. Adequate nutrients are more beneficial to later growth. In addition, it is best to combine it with root pruning at the same time, cutting off rotten roots and old roots, so that nutrients can be better absorbed.
