How to plant primroses

How to plant primroses

1. Seed harvesting and sowing time

Seeding is one of the most common ways of propagating primroses. Seed collection usually takes place in May or June. After harvesting, sow seeds as early as possible, usually in late June.

2. Choice of Matrix

It is best to use a soft, thick and breathable substrate. Sowing is usually done in shallow pots or seed boxes. After selection, put a part of the matrix in it first.

3. Sowing

Since its seeds are thin and small, you can first mix the seeds into a part of the substrate, and then sprinkle them on the soil surface together. This will have a better effect. Note that it is best to spread it evenly, just like sowing the seeds directly. After sowing, cover it with a thin layer of fine sand. The thickness should not be too thick, just enough to slightly cover the seeds.

4. Maintenance and potting

1. Maintenance: There are three points to note. The first thing is water. After sowing, water it thoroughly. Do not let the substrate become too dry. Add some water appropriately. Then there is the lighting. It needs to be placed in a place with weaker light. Another thing is to cover the container with a piece of glass. If the light is strong, you can also cover it with a piece of newspaper.

2. Transplant into pots: Generally, it will sprout in about a week to ten days. After germination, the seeds need to be transplanted into pots. It is best to choose a new pot with a diameter between twelve and sixteen centimeters. You should also pay attention to maintenance after potting.
