The best time to repot Lithops: pay attention to the time of root pruning, watering and sun exposure

The right time to repot lithops

Lithops can be repotted during the growing season, which is in spring and autumn. The spring time can be March to May, and the autumn time can be September to October. During these two time periods, Lithops grows faster and the surrounding climate is also suitable. Repotting can help Lithops adapt to the pot as soon as possible.

Preparations for repotting lithops

Before repotting lithops, you need to prepare suitable pots and soil. You can use a larger pot. Make sure there are drainage holes at the bottom. The substrate should be loose and breathable. Also, stop watering a few days before repotting the lithops and keep the soil in the pot dry. This will help the lithops to come out.

Lithops repotting methods and key points

1. Treat the roots: After removing the Lithops from the pot, you need to observe the roots and cut off the old, weak, and sick roots. After cutting off, you need to do corresponding disinfection, and then place the plant in a cool and ventilated place. Wait until the wound is dry before potting it.

2. Potting method: Plant the processed Lithops into the prepared soil. It is recommended to lay a layer of gravel at the bottom of the pot to increase the drainage of the soil. Observe the dryness and wetness of the soil after planting. If the soil is dry, spray appropriate water. Be careful not to water it, which may easily cause wound rot.

3. Later maintenance: After repotting, Lithops needs some time to adapt to the new environment. It is recommended to place it in a well-ventilated and cool place for maintenance. Under normal circumstances, it will recover in about a week. After the plant recovers, it can be maintained normally. Please note that fertilization can only be carried out after one month.
